Every project and investment needs justification, usually this is done by economic efficiency assessments (like the WiBe framework or a business case). Assessments identify future costs and future benefits as outcome of an ICT project.
Future benefits don’t come easy (if at all), that’s where benefits realisation management comes into focus: It is the definition, planning, structuring and actual realisation of the benefits of an ICT improvement project or a business change project.
