On the political level, this 2016 update casts a light on numerous strategic directions, programmes and initiatives promoted at European level in order to deliver sustainable, economic and social benefits from a Digital Single Market. One of these programmes is the freshly launched EU eGovernment Action plan 2016-2020 substantiated into 20 concrete actions. This plan strives for efficient, inclusive, user friendly and end-to-end digital public services in EU by 2020.
Multiple EU programmes (such as ISA², CEF, Horizon 2020 …) continue to prove the strong EU commitment to progress on the modernisation of the public administrations for the years to come. Among them the ISA² programme (started on 1st January 2016 and strongly building on its predecessor, the 2011-2015 ISA programme) innovates by focusing on businesses and citizens, contributing to the Digital Single Market strategy and capitalising on an increased collaboration with relevant EC initiatives. Its first work programme has been recently adopted and will concretely support the development of interoperability solutions for the modernisation of public administrations across Europe.
The factsheet is made available on the Joinup platform by the National Interoperability Framework Observatory (NIFO) community.
The eGovernment factsheets focus on policies and activities covering good practices in the delivery of electronic services to the benefit of public administrations, businesses and citizens. NIFO is a project by the EC’s ISA² programme. It assists EU countries in monitoring the take up of eGovernment and interoperability.
